Abstract
This activity will consist of a maximum 10-minute talk, plus a 10-minute Q&A and discussion. Our aim is to present ‘Criptolatino: the community of Latin-American cryptographers’, as a community of Latin Americans that work together to improve and support Latin Americans working in cryptography, by addressing the systemic discrimination found in the field (helding conferences only in Global North locations and not taking in account visa-restrictions, expecting the ability to pay for high-fees for registration, discriminatory comments and insults), and by providing support and a ‘listening-ear’ for this systemic discrimination. Our aim is to challenge the system, provide support, and confront the short-sights of the leaders of our field in regards to these issues. In this talk, we will talk about the process of community building, how we intersect with other communities, and future ideas for a more inclusive field. We will open the door for questions, sharing of experiences and discussion
