Abstract
In today's era of pervasive surveillance, criminal defense attorneys face unique challenges that are often overlooked. The intersection of legal ethics, data security, and technology use creates a complex landscape for attorneys striving to protect their clients' interests. The traditional rules of ethics for attorneys rarely address the nuances of safeguarding client data in a digital world. There is a growing need to understand and uphold an attorney's duty to their client, especially considering the potential impacts on case outcomes and client risk assessments. This workshop does not claim to have all the answers or any. Instead, it aims to foster a collaborative environment where legal professionals and ethical hackers can share insights, discuss challenges, and workshop real-world cases. Together, we can explore practical strategies for adapting to this new landscape in criminal defense. Thank you!
