Abstract
In this talk I will perform a recent song I composed, titled "Get a PhD", which presents a fictitious-yet-realistic story of a person as they navigate through an academic career. It is intended to portray some of the abrupt emotional changes, struggles, and also rewards present in academia. Then, I will discuss briefly on how the song was made, including the idea and the production itself. Finally, I will share some of my practices to keep my musical hobby alive and aligned with other activities in my life. The goal is to potentially inspire other artists, as well as getting feedback and comments on other approaches and workflows.
